Come and enjoy all the things you love about football with no running and no contact!
Walking Football 4 Health Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping people of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels enhance overall health, fitness, and wellbeing through a safe and inclusive version of football (soccer) where there is no running, no contact, and no balls kicked above waist height.
Founded in March 2024 by Mick Trim, we have rapidly expanded from Epping to multiple locations across Victoria, including Dandenong, Greensborough, and Point Cook, with more to come. We proudly collaborate with organisations like Diabetes Victoria, Disability Sports Australia, and the Shake It Up Australia Foundation, and have partnered with Gotcha4Life Mental Health Organisation to bring health and active living opportunities to people across the state.

Walking football is a small-sided game of soccer where the rules are modified to have no running, no contact, and no balls kicked above waist height. The modified rules allow individuals of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels to enjoy all the things they love about football (soccer) without the strain of needing to run almost all the time and the physical contact and high-flying balls which can potentially cause injury. As a result, our social modified football program creates a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment for all to have fun!
Designed to focus on family and community participation, and most importantly, better physical, mental, and emotional health and wellbeing, our walking soccer games encourage participants to reconnect with movement in a supportive environment that values enjoyment as much as physical activity. The program helps foster new friendships and social connections, contributing to a greater sense of community belonging. It also provides an accessible pathway for individuals who may be returning to sport after injury, long breaks, or health challenges.

Enjoy playing football (soccer) without the strain of running, keeping the game low-impact and enjoyable for individuals of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels.

Experience a fun and friendly way to exercise while playing the game you love and creating meaningful connections with other players.

Gain peace of mind knowing you can play with reduced risk for injury because there is no contact and the ball stays below waist height.
With Walking Football 4 Health Sessions, all individuals from diverse backgrounds, gender, age, culture, abilities, and fitness levels are welcome to join! As the modified football game is low impact with no running, no contact, and no balls kicked above waist height, people with health conditions like Parkinson’s, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Stroke, and Dementia can join. Anyone challenged with social anxieties or low-self-esteem and confidence are also encouraged to reach out and join.

Walking Football 4 Health Victoria was recently featured on ABC Weekend Breakfast, shining a spotlight on the power of sport to bring joy, movement, and connection to people of all ages and abilities. The segment introduced viewers to Elizabeth Dosser, an inspiring 89-year-old who discovered walking football with her daughter and now plays regularly in women’s sessions. For Elizabeth, the game is more than exercise — it’s laughter, energy, and friendship: “You don’t realize you’re doing exercise because you’re walking — and it’s fantastic.” Alongside Elizabeth was Mick Trim, President of WF4H Victoria, who shared his personal story of resilience. After being diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2017, Mick was forced to give up work, driving, and traditional sport. Discovering walking football became a turning point: “To me, it’s definitely a lifesaver… now we’ve built a community where people can come together, get active, and have fun.”
Both Elizabeth and Mick highlighted the inclusive spirit of walking football. Players as young as five and as experienced as 89 have joined in, proving it truly is a sport for everybody — regardless of age, ability, or background. The interview also celebrated the upcoming Festival of Walking Football, hosted by WF4H Victoria, bringing together more than 200 participants from across Australia for a weekend of friendly competition and social connection.Walking football is proof that staying active, engaged, and connected is possible at any stage of life — and that community is built one step, and one smile, at a time.
